echoMountain provides business continuity services with several different options. Each option requires the use of our Data Protection Services. Please see the document, Best Practices Data Protection Services for a description of those services. The costs for each scenario will differ based on the complexity of the solution. Below are the different scenarios for business continuity services that are available at echoMountain.

 Same Server Recovery

Recovery to the same server requires data protection services of Disk-to-Disk (D2D) or Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T). Recovery from backups can take from 8-16 hours. Hardware repair time may also be required in the event of server failures. With the use of our Bare Metal Disaster Recovery Option, recovery can be shortened and can take from 4-8 hours.  Cold Standby Server Recovery

This scenario is similar to same server recovery, however a second cold standby server is required. Recovery to the standby server requires data protection services of Disk-to-Disk (D2D) or Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T). Recovery is from the latest set of backups and can take from 8-16 hours. With the use of our Bare Metal Disaster Recovery Option, recovery can shortened and can take from 4-8 hours. The cost for the standby server is slightly less than the cost for a dedicated server since the server is in cold standby and does not consume power. READ MORE »

 Hot Standby Server Recovery

This scenario is similar to the cold standby server recovery, however a second server is required. Recovery to the hot standby server requires data protection services of Disk-to-Disk (D2D) or Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T). The hot standby server is replicated on a customized schedule and is defined by the customer's requirements. Recovery is significantly shortened and can take up to 1-3 hours as load is shifted from your production server to your hot standby server through the modification of DNS entries. Bare Metal Disaster Recovery Option is required for hot standby server recovery. The cost for the hot standby server is the same as the production server plus the additional cost of D2D backup and Bare Metal Disaster Recovery options. READ MORE »

 Clustered Server Solutions

Clustered solutions ensures your applications are consistently and reliably accessible. Our clustered servers solution use multiple production servers and a Foundry Networks ServerIron load balancer in which load is shared on all servers. Load Balancer Services are required and in the event of a server failure, the failed server is automatically removed by the load balancer. This solution provides near 100% uptime for your application environment and should be considered for critical systems.

 Secondary Data Center Recovery - Cold Standby Server

For cold standby recovery to a secondary data center, the customer must have a standby server in our secondary data center. Data protection services of Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T) would also be required, because a data center recovery would require tape backups to be delivered to the second data center to restore the standby server. This process can take from 24 - 48 hours. By using the Bare Metal services, recovery can take between 18 - 24 hours. The cost for the standby server is slightly less than the cost for a dedicated server since the server is in cold standby and does not consume power. READ MORE »

 Global Server Load Balancing

Multi-data center clustered solutions utilizes multiple production servers in each data center along with load balancers and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) to provide high availability of IP applications/services running across multiple data centers. GSLB distributes end user requests according to business policies, data center conditions and network conditions such as round trip time, packet loss and other QOS metrics -- ensuring the highest possible availability of your site.
